Round 4 – 8th July A beautiful summers evening greeted competitors contesting the fourth round of the Bayford 50 series.
|
 Class B Podium – R4 |
 Class A Podium – R5 |
Team Marrisons continued their total domination of the Team class as they recorded the fourth consecutive class win in as many races, Greenacre 2nd and L&D 3RD gamely chased Marrisons but were unable to threaten.
Scooby Two took a fairly straight forward class and overall victory, the winning margin just over 12 seconds at the flag from the returning Will Willard 2nd and last month’s winner David Baker 3rd.
The series now has a summer break before resuming on September 9th.
Round 3 – 10th June
David Baker was the star of the third round of this Summers Bayford 50 which took place in dull overcast conditions. Having started from grid three David disposed of pole starter and race leader Scooby Two within the first twenty minutes and had pulled out a healthy nine second advantage at the flag.
Consolation for runner up Scooby Two was that the points gained moved him to the lead in the championship. Junior club graduate George Salter continues to impress taking a fighting third place.
Marrison completed a Hat-trick of wins in the team class, chased home on this occasion by L&D in second position and Mavericks in third place. The Summer series continues on July 8th when hopefully the conditions will be more summer like!
Round 2 – 6th May
Steve Best and Team Marrison were the top performers in their respective classes at the second round of this Summers Bayford 50 which took place on a dry but chilly evening.
Having qualified a lowly ninth, Steve Best stormed through the field to take Class A, getting the better of his nearest rivals Scooby Two and George Salter. Scooby Two led the race comfortably at the start but came under pressure from Steve and then from George in the closing moments of the race as he slipped back to 3rd.
Just fourteen seconds covered the top three in Class B, Team L&D 2nd and Mavericks 3rd chased home winner Marrison in the Team class.
The 50 minute race featured some entertaining scraps, David Baker battled for position with George Salter in Class A as did, Team L&D and Steve Best in the early laps in Class B. Also worthy of mention, Greenacre, White Trash and Grob circulated together throughout much of the race having their own private battle.
Another capacity grid is expected for the next Bayford 50 race that takes place on June 10th.
Round 1 – 1st April
The opening race of the Bayford 50 series for 2010 attracted a capacity grid, the race featured a good mix of regular competitors with Bayford 50 debut drivers.
The Individual Class honours went to 2008 Champion Scooby Two after a race long fight with Steve Best. Steve had initially led but was unnecessarily delayed whilst lapping a back marker and consequently lost the advantage.
Marrisons were comfortable winners of the Team Class, they also recorded the fastest lap of the race with a 57.3 second lap. TJ's were second in class with Team L&D third.
Round 2 takes place on 6th May. |
